Toronto, Ontario – henderson bas announced today the appointment of Laura Pacey as Chief Operating Officer. In this role Laura will manage agency growth, while providing strategic and operational guidance.

Laura, brings over 20 years of marketing communications experience to henderson bas and spent the past 9 years at MacLaren MRM (MacLaren McCann’s Digital/CRM Division). Laura has worked directly with blue-chip clients, while showcasing executive leadership. As an active member of MacLaren McCann’s Management team, Laura was one of the original members of MacLaren’s Educational Curriculum Development Committee, was the 2009 United Way Committee Co-chair and was the recipient of MacLaren McCann’s first-ever Integration Award. Laura is deeply respected by both her employees and colleagues. Colbert is Dead to Me was developed to as a humorous satire, mocking television celebrity Steven Colbert. Steven Colbert who was receiving an industry award that henderson bas would be attending to celebrate their own victory. henderson bas leveraged the very popular and public event would help build brand awareness for their agency while also raising the agency’s profile in the US market. The microsite’s main role was asserting that Colbert is a web- ignorant fraud and undeserving of his industry award. The tongue-in-cheek site consisted of a variety of elements that challenged Colbert’s award worthiness while also providing opportunities for people to express their outrage or support of Colbert’s award win. The catalyst of the challenge was the T-shirts two henderson bas employees wore while onstage accepting their own award. Containing the site URL, the T-Shirt drove curious visitors and Colbert’s loyal supporters to the microsite where they could weigh in on the feud. While Colbert did not take up the challenge, the humorous campaign did receive national press coverage and resulted in several business inquiries for the agency.

– henderson bas named Volunteer of the Year for their work with the Out of the Cold Program

Toronto, Ontario – University Settlement, Toronto’s first community-based social service centre in Toronto, proudly acknowledged henderson bas as their Corporate Volunteer of the Year for their continuous commitment and support to the Out Of The Cold Program.

University Settlement’s Out Of The Cold program began in 1997 in response to the community need for emergency temporary shelter and food to homeless individuals in Toronto’s downtown core. The program provides food and shelter for 75 clients each weekend. With an average occupancy rate of 98%, this program relies heavily on the dedication and hard-work of their staff and volunteers.

Out Of The Cold was brought to the attention of henderson bas employees by Chief Creative Officer & Partner, Kathy Kohn. Kohn recognized the need for donations and wanted to find a way for her agency to help. With the development of an engaging and interactive challenge to generate donations, Kohn tested her employees by harnessing their spirited nature in a department vs. department competition. This competitively-driven activity has generated an exponential amount of monthly donations including over 3,000 hygiene products, 2,700 shirts, 300 pairs of pants, and 300 lifestyle items, including books, games and magazines.

henderson bas’ donations have provided support to the program and their clients since January 2009. “Out Of The Cold, as well as most of the University Settlement House programs rely on the support of volunteers and generous community donations. The generosity shown by henderson bas has been overwhelming. Through their donations we have been able to provide the everyday opportunities to our clients of the general population. Receiving these donations instills hope and confidence in our clients. henderson bas is giving many people a chance, they may not otherwise get.
